Pledge Requirements

How do I become a member of Beta Alpha Psi?

In order to become a member you must first go through a pledge process which takes a semester to complete. Below please find this process outlined.

Three requirements must be met in order for you to achieve OFFICIAL pledge status in Beta Alpha Psi"s Alpha Gamma Chapter:

  1. You must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher at Baruch College.
  2. You must have declared your major in accountancy, finance or computer information systems.
  3. You must have completed at least 24* undergraduate credits at Baruch College.

    *12 credits for graduate students

Once you have met the above three requirements you may begin the process of becoming an OFFICIAL pledge:

  1. Provide us with a copy of your transcript.
  2. Complete an online application at www.baruchbap.org.
  3. Pay a lifetime membership fee of $90.

* You may email a copy of your transcript to our Vice-President of Membership at vpmem.bap@gmail.com.
* You may pay our membership fee either through by check or money order.
* Please write your checks out to "Baruch College for Beta Alpha Psi".
* Arrange to meet up with the Treasurer - treasurer.bap@gmail.com
* You must receive a confirmation email from our VP of Membership if you have met up with the treasurer and paid. If you do not receive a confirmation email please follow up with our Treasurer.

After completing the above three steps you will be considered an OFFICIAL pledge.

OFFICIAL pledges are updated at the end of every week. At this time you must fulfill the subsequent membership requirements in order to be considered a member at the end of the semester. Please note: only after you are considered an OFFICIAL pledge may you begin to receive credit for any events that you attend. Effective Fall 2009, here are the new Beta Alpha Psi pledge requirements for our Alpha Gamma chapter:

  1. You must attend 6 to 7 BAP professional events.
    • A BAP professional event is an on-campus event that is sponsored or co-sponsored by BAP. Please look for our BAP logo on the flyers. If our BAP logo is on the flyer, then it is a BAP event. You will also find our BAP events listed on our website and in our weekly newsletter.
    • Please sign in at each professional event in order to receive credit.

  2. You must attend 3 to 4 BAP social events. Please choose either 6 professional and 4 social events or 7 professional and 3 social events.
    • Social events are a great way to get to know your fellow pledges and BAP officers outside of Baruch. Make yourself known to the officers because we also want to know you individually. Social events are usually on Fridays after 5pm. Detailed information will be emailed prior to the events.
    • Please sign in at each social event in order to receive credit.
  3. You must complete 10 community service hours.
    • You may complete your community service hours by attending BAP-related community service events.
    • Please sign in at each community service event in order to receive credit.
    • You may also complete your community service hours by attending non-BAP related community service events.
    • In order to receive credit for non-BAP- related community service events you must provide our VP of Community
    • Service with an official letter from the organization stating: the place of community service; the tasks you completed; the amount of hours you completed; the dates of your community service.
    • You must receive a confirmation email from our VP of Community Service in order for you to receive credit for the community service hours. If you do not receive a confirmation email please follow up.

**Please submit an Excel sheet of the professional events that you have attended at the end of the semester to VPmem.bap@gmail.com once you have completed the requirements.

ALL hours must be completed within the semester you became an official pledge in order to become a member.

*NO APPLICATIONS OR TRANSCRIPTS WILL ROLL OVER.*

You will have to complete another application and submit another transcript if you fail to meet the membership hour requirements in the semester you became an OFFICIAL pledge. Your membership fee will rollover, however membership fees are NOT REFUNDABLE under any circumstance.
