Beta Alpha Psi is a nationally recognized honor society comprised of accounting, finance and computer information systems (CIS) students. Only colleges which are members of the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business may host chapters of Beta Alpha Psi. Alpha Gamma is Baruch’s chapter of Beta Alpha Psi.
Beta Alpha Psi was established in 1949 with the purpose of promoting and maintaining lifelong relationships amongst students, professionals and faculty. To accomplish this goal Alpha Gamma sponsors numerous informative lectures, networking events, workshops and presentations throughout the academic year at Baruch"s campus.
Alpha Gamma is continuously trying to improve and adapt to the changing needs of our peers. We are currently working on developing various programs dedicated to exploring emerging business careers. In the spring of 2007 we held our first informative lecture on the field of forensic accounting called, “Forensic Accounting: 101.” In the future we hope to continue this trend and develop an even more diverse assortment of events for our peers.
While Beta Alpha Psi is aimed at promoting the flow of information amongst our fellow students and creating and developing relationships, we are also extremely dedicated to giving back to the community. We arrange many service related events throughout the year. In the past we have either organized or participated in events such as park cleanups, fundraising for aids and cancer research, and food and clothing drives.
Professional organizations are familiar with Beta Alpha Psi and its activities. They are favorably inclined towards candidates for employment who hold membership in the fraternity and those who have taken an active part in chapter activities.
Beta Alpha Psi"s Alpha Gamma chapter is distinguished as a Superior Chapter. In order to be a Superior Chapter, our members and pledges must actively participate in chapter meetings and events. Being a superior chapter is a national recognition within Beta Alpha Psi. |
